I accidentally damaged my friend’s large non-stick pan, but he has another one. I’m looking for a replacement within a $60 budget. Since I’m new to the world of cookware, I’m considering getting him a different type of pan instead of sticking with non-stick. I found a stainless steel pan on sale for around $40. Any suggestions? Keep in mind that he doesn’t cook very often.

It sounds like you want to get your buddy something that’s both practical and a little different! If he doesn’t cook all that much, a versatile pan could be a great choice. A stainless steel pan is excellent for browning, sautéing, and even searing. It can give food a nice flavor and texture, and with proper care, it lasts a long time.
If you want to stick with the idea of getting a non-stick, consider a cast iron skillet. They can be non-stick if seasoned properly and are fantastic for all kinds of cooking from frying to baking. Plus, they’re practically indestructible!
Look for brands like T-fal or Cuisinart, which offer good quality pans for a reasonable price. If you do go for a stainless steel or cast iron option, make sure to include a little note on how to use and care for it, as that’ll help your buddy get the most out of his new pan!
