Sourdough Protein Pancakes, Anyone?
Does anyone have a recipe for high-protein sourdough pancakes? I’ve been making the King Arthur sourdough pancakes recently, but I find they’re not very hearty for breakfast.

Sure! Here’s a high-protein sourdough pancake recipe you can try:
High-Protein Sourdough Pancakes Recipe
Ingredients:
– 1 cup sourdough starter (unfed works best)
– 1/2 cup rolled oats (you can blend them for a finer texture)
– 1/2 cup cottage cheese or Greek yogurt
– 2 large eggs
– 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
– Butter or oil for greasing the panInstructions:
-
Blend the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, rolled oats, cottage cheese (or Greek yogurt), eggs, honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well combined. You can use a blender for a smoother batter if desired.
-
Preheat the Pan: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and grease it lightly with butter or oil.
-
Cook the Pancakes: Pour about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the heated skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
-
Serve: Enjoy your pancakes warm with your favorite toppings like fresh fruit, nut butter, or additional yogurt.
Tips:
- Adjust the thickness of the batter by adding a little milk if you prefer thinner pancakes.
- Feel free to mix in some protein powder (vanilla or unflavored) for even more protein!
These pancakes will be more filling thanks to the added protein from cottage cheese or Greek yogurt, along with the oats. Enjoy!
