The Rose, Wokingham
I went alone and had the prawns (bit dull – just soft and slow cooked in olive oil) and the lamb (excellent) and the service was good but it was on a weekday so it was basically dead.
The Rose, Wopkingham
This is under new management and I completely acknowledge they have only just assumed command but the experience we had on Saturday did leave a little to be desired. The service was quite there. The food wasn’t available and what was left wasn’t up to scratch. I hope to see this place back in full flow soon as it is still very busy and I wish the new owners the best of luck.
London Street Brasserie
Excellent food as always, the best in town!
The Walter Arms
This is a beautiful place and the staff are great as well as there being excellent parking and facilities outside for the kids. There is a nice bar and a nice restaurant where the food is a little American-centric for us but otherwise pretty good. It is a mishmash of everything, in that there are wine glasses on every table but it is also a family place. It has a nice fir in winter and TVs for the sport. I think that is why I am giving it three stars, It needs to decide what it is. If it was a little more family friendly, without the TVs and the bar was less of a feature we would prefer that, but they might have to sacrifice a few locals drinking there. I think that would be worth it as they have so many families around them. They do also have the most beautiful barmaid for some distance which is a bonus to my brother when he comes, so it is for the public to decide. I think if more families used it, they would adjust and it would be a better place.
The White Hart
A cozy little spot with a welcoming atmosphere and lovely staff.
