5 course meal for 60th bday

Planning a 5-course meal for my dad’s 60th birthday! My sister and I are putting together a special seafood-themed dinner since he grew up in a fishing town. Our parents are incredible cooks, so we have a lot of inspiration to work with. For the first course, we’re thinking of starting with oysters (we’re big fans!) and then serving crab cakes for the second course, as crab feels quite fancy.

I’d love any suggestions for the remaining courses, as well as wine pairings! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  1. What a wonderful idea for your dad’s 60th birthday celebration! A seafood theme is perfect, especially with the connection to his roots. Your first two courses are fantastic choices! Here are some suggestions for the remaining courses:

Third Course: Consider a Seafood Chowder or Bisque. It’s warm and comforting, and you can make it rich and creamy with fresh seafood like shrimp, clams, and scallops.

Fourth Course: For a lighter option, go with Grilled Fish (like salmon or halibut) served with a citrus beurre blanc or a mango salsa. Pair it with some seasonal vegetables or a light salad—think arugula with citrus vinaigrette.

Fifth Course: End with a Lemon Tart or a Key Lime Pie. Both are refreshing and have a nice tang to cleanse the palate after a rich meal.

    Wine Pairings:
Oysters: Champagne or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.
Crab Cakes: A light, oaked Chardonnay or a dry Riesling.
Chowder/Bisque: A fruity Pinot Gris or a white Burgundy.
Grilled Fish: A nice Sauvignon Blanc or a medium-bodied Chardonnay.
Dessert: A sweet dessert wine like a Moscato or a late-harvest Riesling.

I hope these ideas help create a delicious and memorable meal for your dad’s special day! Enjoy the cooking and the celebration! 🥳🦪🦀
