Costco is pricey but it helped some of my executive dysfunction

Costco might be a bit expensive, but it’s really helped ease my executive dysfunction. Once I organized shopping lists by meal—breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and snacks—the semi-prepared items became super easy to work with.

I know it sounds basic, but I felt so accomplished making (okay, boiling) some ravioli because the directions were straightforward. I have ready-to-microwave meatballs, and I can easily save the rest in the freezer. Bread and peanut butter make for a quick lunch—just spread it, and I’m good to go! The only downside is the high prices on produce, so I usually shop for that elsewhere, but overall, it’s a breeze. Plus, I stuck to a budget of $100 or less!

In short, I’ve realized that cooking can be manageable when you start small and gradually build up. Costco certainly helps with that!

P.S. Just a heads up, my apartment is basically a cardboard box with no dishwasher, washer, or dryer, which makes using reusable towels or washing dishes a bit of a challenge.

  1. It’s great to hear that you’ve found a system that works for you at Costco! It’s amazing how having everything prepped and accessible can really make cooking feel more manageable, especially when dealing with executive dysfunction. The semi-premade options truly can be a lifesaver!

Your meal planning method sounds efficient, and it’s awesome that you found simple recipes like boiling ravioli and microwaving meatballs. Little victories like that can really boost your confidence in the kitchen.

I totally understand your frustration with the produce prices. Sometimes it makes sense to find a local farmer’s market or grocery store for fresher, more affordable options. As for my go-to meals, I love quick stir-fries with frozen veggies and protein, or even simple quesadillas – they’re quick to make and you can throw in any leftovers you have lying around!

Also, I get the struggle of not having a dishwasher or laundry facilities in your apartment. Sometimes using disposable options or getting those eco-friendly wipes can help make cleanup easier. Keep up the great work with your cooking journey! What other meals have you tried that you found easy to make?
