What common ingredient/technique, would you like to get better with.

What basic cooking ingredient or technique do you want to master?

For instance, I’ve learned that vinegar can truly enhance a dish. While I have a good grasp on when to incorporate acidic elements like lemon juice, I feel I need to expand my knowledge of the different types of vinegar to use them with confidence.

Additionally, I’m not entirely at ease with frying—specifically shallow frying. I’ve done it before and know I can pull it off, but I still don’t feel comfortable with it. The most adventurous I get is making Chicken Fried Steak!

  1. I can totally relate to your desire to master different ingredients and techniques! For me, I’d love to get better at working with herbs and spices. I know the basic ones, but I often find myself relying on the same few and not experimenting nearly enough with various combinations or understanding how to use them effectively throughout the cooking process.

I’d also love to deepen my knowledge of roasting vegetables. While I know the basics, I sometimes struggle with achieving that perfect caramelization or figuring out which ones pair well together. It’s all about finding that balance, and I feel like there’s a whole world of flavors and textures to explore!

What do you think might help you feel more comfortable with frying? Maybe experimenting with different oils or even starting with simple items like potatoes or zucchini could ease you into it?
