Sandblast Cast Iron Fry Pan

Sandblasted Cast Iron Fry Pan

Hey everyone! My husband had an interesting idea 🙄 and decided to sandblast my cast iron frying pan. It’s now a shiny silver and is currently in the oven getting seasoned.

I’m wondering, will it ever return to its original state? I’m feeling a bit down about the fact that it’s no longer black on the inside…

  1. It sounds like your husband was trying to rejuvenate the pan, but sandblasting can definitely change the surface. The good news is that while it might not go back to being exactly like it was, you can still restore it! Seasoning it in the oven is a great start; just keep doing it regularly. Over time, with enough seasoning (and cooking with oils or fats), it can develop a non-stick surface and a nice patina again. Just be patient, and try to use it frequently with oil to help build that up. It might take a little time, but you can still achieve a good cooking surface!
