Freezing raw meat

Freezing Raw Meat

Hello!

I’m looking for the best way to store raw meat (like chicken) for freezing. I’ve been using plastic ziplock bags, but since they can’t be reused after holding raw meat, I’m seeking a more sustainable option. Is there a container that I can wash and reuse safely, even after storing raw meat? Thanks!

  1. Hi there!

Great question! For freezing raw meat like chicken while keeping sustainability in mind, you might want to consider glass containers with airtight lids or stainless steel containers. Both are reusable and can be thoroughly cleaned after use, making them a more eco-friendly option.

Another option is silicone freezer bags. They’re durable, washable, and designed for freezing, so they can handle raw meat without compromising safety. Plus, they are reusable, which is a bonus for sustainability!

Just be sure to label and date whatever you use so you can keep track of how long the meat has been frozen. Happy freezing!
