Attempting to Make Candy – Disaster Strikes! 😱
I set out to make some glass candy using a simple recipe:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup water
I was working with a small, budget-friendly portable burner (around $20) and a metal bowl, but things didn’t go as planned. The mixture never surpassed 225°F, which is a problem since it needs to reach 300°F.
Now I’m left wondering whether the burner is to blame for the low temperature, or if I just didn’t wait long enough for all the water to evaporate. Any thoughts?
