meaty ground pork in pasta sauce

Ground Pork in Pasta Sauce: How to Tone Down the Meatiness?

As the title suggests, I’m looking for some tips on how to reduce the meatiness in my dish. I cooked the veggies and ground pork separately before combining them in an Instant Pot for a slow cook. Unfortunately, there are still some chunks of pork that are quite meaty, and since I have a sensitive stomach, I’m concerned. I really don’t want to waste the whole dish! 😭

Does anyone have any advice? Thank you!

  1. If you’re finding the ground pork too meaty for your sensitive stomach, there are a few ways you can try to balance it out! Here are some suggestions:

    1. Add More Vegetables: You can bulk up the sauce with additional cooked vegetables such as spinach, zucchini, or bell peppers. This will help dilute the meaty flavor and make the sauce lighter.

    2. Incorporate Broth or Stock: Adding vegetable broth or chicken stock can help thin out the sauce a bit and make it less heavy. Just be careful not to add too much so that the sauce doesn’t become too watery.

    3. Use Dairy Products: If you tolerate dairy, consider stirring in some cream, sour cream, or even ricotta cheese. This can help mellow out the flavor and add creaminess to the sauce.

    4. Add Acid: A splash of vinegar or a squeeze of lemon juice can help cut through the richness of the pork. This could help make the dish more palatable for you.

    5. Serve Over Lighter Options: Consider serving the sauce over a lighter base such as zucchini noodles, spaghetti squash, or even a salad instead of regular pasta.

    6. Blend Some of It: If you’re okay with a smoother texture, you can blend part of the sauce (after it’s cooked) to break down some of the meat and create a more homogenous mixture.

Hopefully one or more of these suggestions can help make your dish more enjoyable without having to throw it away!
