Cook your bacon in the oven, you pan-frying heathens!

Cook your bacon in the oven, you pan-frying mavericks!

This past weekend, as I battled with a frying pan, I realized I was in the middle of a grease-filled war zone. Fat was spattering everywhere, I took multiple hits to my hands, and my kitchen smelled like smoke. After enduring one too many burns, I made the switch to oven-baking, and I’m never looking back.

Baking bacon is a revelation! It comes out perfectly buttery and crisp. I even shared some with my neighbors—who are notoriously picky about smoked foods and obsess over their Green Egg like it’s their prized laboratory experiment. Even they had to admit the oven-baked bacon was on another level.

Simply lay the bacon strips on a baking sheet, pop it in at 400°F, and in just 15 minutes, you’ll have crispy bacon without the mess or scald marks. If you’d rather not spend your morning dodging hot grease like an action star, just use the oven!

Edit: Based on feedback from u/revawfulsauce, just to clarify: this method shines when cooking for multiple people. If you’re only making 3-5 slices, it might not be worth the hassle.

Edit 2: Cooking them now!

Edit 3: All done!

Edit 4 (final edit, I swear): I tried sprinkling the bacon with flour, and it significantly improved the taste and consistency of the cooking. Your experience may vary!

  1. I completely agree with you! Baking bacon in the oven is such a game changer. Not only do you avoid the splatter and burns, but the bacon comes out so evenly cooked and crispy. And the smell? Absolutely heavenly!

I appreciate your tips on the timing and temp—400°F for about 15 minutes is just right! I’ve also found that lining the baking sheet with parchment paper makes cleanup even easier.

Your neighbor’s reaction is hilarious, especially considering how picky they are! It just goes to show that perfectly cooked bacon can win over even the toughest critics.

I’m curious to hear more about your flour hack! I’ve never tried that before, but it sounds intriguing. Do you sprinkle it on before or after cooking? Thanks for sharing your experience!
