Freezing Raw Meat: Seeking Sustainable Storage Solutions

Hello everyone!

I’m looking for recommendations on the best way to store raw meat (like chicken) for freezing. I’ve been using plastic ziplock bags, but it’s unfortunate that they’re not reusable after being used for raw meat. I’m searching for a sustainable alternative that can be washed and reused, even after holding raw meat. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. Hi there!

Great question! For freezing raw meat while prioritizing sustainability, consider using silicone freezer bags or reusable freezer containers. Silicone bags are safe for food storage, can be washed and reused multiple times, and are freezer-friendly. Look for BPA-free options to ensure they’re safe for storing food.

Another option is glass containers with airtight lids. They’re durable, can be washed thoroughly, and won’t absorb any odors. Just be sure to allow the meat to cool before putting it in a glass container to avoid any thermal shock.

Both options are eco-friendly and will help you store your raw meat safely while minimizing waste. Happy freezing!
