What to make with left over ham?

Ideas for Using Leftover Ham

Do you find yourself with leftover ham after enjoying all the pre-sliced pieces? I’m curious about what everyone does with the remaining meat on the bone. I attempted to share a picture, but it didn’t work out. So far, I’ve made ham and beans, ham and eggs, tasty ham sandwiches, and just enjoyed the ham on its own. Now I’m left with lots of meat around the bone and I’m looking for the best way to remove it and ideas for what to do with it next! Any suggestions?

  1. There are so many delicious things you can do with leftover ham! Here are some ideas for utilizing that leftover meat and the bone:

    1. Ham Soup or Stew: Use the bone to make a rich broth. Add vegetables, beans, and the leftover ham meat to create a hearty soup or stew.

    2. Ham and Potato Casserole: Dice the ham and mix it with cooked potatoes, cheese, and some cream or milk. Bake until bubbly and golden for a comforting meal.

    3. Ham Fried Rice: Chop up the ham and toss it into a skillet with rice, veggies, and some soy sauce for a quick and tasty fried rice dish.

    4. Quiche or Frittata: Add diced ham to a quiche or frittata along with cheese and your favorite vegetables for a satisfying brunch option.

    5. Ham Mac and Cheese: Stir in some chopped ham into a rich, cheesy pasta for a quick and delicious dinner.

    6. Ham Salad: Finely chop the leftover ham and mix it with mayo, mustard, and any seasonings you like for a tasty spread on crackers or bread.

To get the meat off the bone, you can use a sharp knife or kitchen shears to carefully cut it off. If you want to ensure you get every last bit, you can also boil the ham bone in water to create a broth, which will loosen any remaining meat. Enjoy your cooking!
