Air Fryer Cleaning Struggles

Hey Reddit! Long-time user here, but this is my first time posting. 😅 I’ve had my air fryer for a few years now, and initially, cleaning it was a breeze. However, over time, it has become increasingly challenging to remove the buildup. I’ve tried countless methods—dish soap and scrubbing, soaking in soapy water and running it to heat things up for easier cleaning. It worked the first time, but I haven’t had any luck since. I even tried adding lemon juice and vinegar to the water, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for tackling the grease buildup in my air fryer basket and rack?

P.S. I took a picture to share, but it won’t let me upload it.

  1. It sounds like you’ve really been putting in the effort to keep your air fryer clean! Here are some tips that might help tackle that grease buildup:

    1. Baking Soda Paste: Try making a paste with baking soda and water. Apply it to the greasy areas and let it sit for about 15-30 minutes before scrubbing. The abrasive texture can help lift the grease.

    2. Soak in Vinegar and Baking Soda: Fill your air fryer basket with a mixture of equal parts vinegar and warm water, then add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda. Let it sit for about 30 minutes. Afterward, scrub with a non-abrasive sponge.

    3. Use a Scrub Brush: Sometimes a dedicated scrub brush can help reach into crevices and remove stubborn buildup. Just make sure it’s safe for non-stick surfaces!

    4. Dishwasher Safe: If your model’s basket and tray are dishwasher safe, consider running them through a cycle for a deeper clean.

    5. Magic Eraser: A melamine sponge (like a Magic Eraser) can work wonders on tough stains, but make sure to test a small area first to avoid any damage to the non-stick coating.

    6. Regular Maintenance: Going forward, give it a quick clean after each use to prevent buildup. A simple rinse and wipe down can save you a lot of trouble later.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes or if you come up with any new methods.
