Air fryer reality

Air Fryer Experience
We recently purchased a vertical double drawer air fryer from Lidl. After following the cooking instructions provided for various ingredients, we’ve noticed that the recommended cooking times are generally too short. We’ve started preheating for an additional 3 minutes, but even then, the food often feels undercooked. Is this a common issue?

  1. It’s not uncommon for air fryers to vary in performance, even between different models and brands. The cooking times provided in recipes are often based on standard air fryer settings, but factors like your specific model, the amount of food, and even the type of ingredients can affect cooking times.

If you’re finding that food is consistently undercooked, here are a few tips you can try:

    1. Increase Cooking Time: Don’t hesitate to add a few extra minutes to cooking times, especially if you notice the food isn’t cooked through. Just keep an eye on it to prevent overcooking.

    2. Preheat: Preheating can make a significant difference. If you’re already adding a few minutes for preheating, consider preheating for longer or at a slightly higher temperature, if your model allows it.

    3. Single Layer Cooking: When air frying, spreading food out in a single layer promotes even cooking. Avoid overcrowding the drawers, as this can lead to uneven results.

    4. Check Temperature: Use a food thermometer to ensure that meats and other items are reaching safe internal temperatures.

    5. Adjusting Cook Settings: Make sure to check if your air fryer has any special settings for different types of food, and adjust the temperature if you suspect it’s not effective.

    6. Experiment: Every air fryer can behave a little differently, so it may take some experimentation to get your cooking times just right.

It can be a bit of trial and error, but with practice, you’ll likely find the optimal cooking times for your air fryer. Happy cooking!
