Are burgers supposed to have a little bit of pink on the inside

Is it normal for burgers to have a slight pink hue in the center?

I rarely order or cook burgers due to my OCD, but I had one tonight that was thin and mainly grey/brown, with just a hint of pink in the middle. Is this how burgers are typically prepared, or could it have been undercooked?

  1. It’s common for burgers to have a bit of pink in the center, especially if they’re cooked to a medium or medium-rare level. However, the key factor is the internal temperature rather than just the color. Ground beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 160°F (71°C) to ensure it’s safe to eat and to kill any harmful bacteria. Thin patties might cook differently, and the pink could be an indication of not being fully cooked, especially if they are significantly pink inside. If you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to use a meat thermometer to check the temperature for your peace of mind.
