Beginner Cooking Resources and Tips for a Month of Solo Living
I’m about to embark on a month of living alone, and I’m not a fan of takeout or fast food. So, it looks like I’ll have to cook for myself. I’ve tried cooking before, but it’s challenging to maintain consistency. I need at least two hearty meals a day to keep my energy up, and I often find myself struggling with the right tools or missing ingredients.
I should mention that I’m not keen on using heavy spices, particularly pepper or paprika. Plus, since I’m located in the Caucasus, I may not have easy access to all the ingredients often found in Western recipes.
Given all of this, I’m in search of beginner-friendly cooking resources and tips to avoid mishaps.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far! I’ve been a bit busy but managed to read through your comments. Just to provide a little more context, here are some meals I’ve cooked: chicken soup, meatball soup, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and fried eggplant. While these meals have been manageable, some take too much time, so I’d prefer to avoid them.
At home, we typically eat simple dishes like rice, beans, and cutlets. My mother has a knack for cooking quickly and rarely makes mistakes, relying on her intuition and experience, which I find hard to replicate.
In terms of cooking tools, I have the basics, but I don’t have an oven. Any guidance on easy recipes or useful resources would be greatly appreciated!
