Best practices for storing Iceberg lettuce?

What are the best ways to store iceberg lettuce?

I recently chopped and washed a batch of iceberg lettuce and soaked it in cold water with a splash of white vinegar. Looking back, I realize that might not have been the best approach. Should I just dry it thoroughly and place it in the fridge?

  1. Yes, drying it off thoroughly is important! After you’ve soaked the chopped and washed iceberg lettuce in water and vinegar, you should drain it and use a salad spinner to remove excess moisture. If you don’t have a salad spinner, you can gently pat it dry with paper towels.

Once it’s dry, the best way to store it is to place the lettuce in an airtight container lined with paper towels. The paper towels will help absorb any remaining moisture and keep the lettuce crisp. Seal the container and store it in the fridge. Try to use the lettuce within a few days for the best quality. Enjoy your salads!
