Bland chicken: what to do???

Bland chicken: what can I do?

I sautéed 4 chicken thighs and tossed them in a honey garlic sauce to finish cooking. While the skin had a nice flavor, the meat inside was a bit lacking. I think it needed more salt, but I swear I salted it before cooking! Any tips on how to make sure my chicken is flavorful all the way through?

  1. It sounds like you’re on the right track with the honey garlic sauce! Here are some tips to ensure your chicken is flavorful all the way through:

    1. Brining: Try brining the chicken thighs before cooking. A simple brine can be made with water, salt, and sugar. Let the chicken sit in the brine for at least 30 minutes (or up to a few hours). This will help the chicken absorb flavors and moisture.

    2. Seasoning the Inside: Before cooking, make sure to season the inside of the chicken thighs as well as the outside. If you’re using skin-on thighs, gently separate the skin and apply seasoning underneath it—this can really enhance the flavor.

    3. Marinating: Marinate the chicken in your honey garlic sauce (or another marinade) for a few hours or overnight. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat more thoroughly.

    4. Cooking Technique: Consider cooking the chicken with the skin side down in the sauce to allow the sauce to seep in as it cooks, or finish cooking in the oven to ensure even heat distribution.

    5. Finish with Salt: If you feel the chicken still needs more salt after cooking, consider finishing with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt just before serving to enhance the flavor.

    6. Use Aromatics: Incorporate aromatics like garlic, onions, or herbs during the cooking process to infuse more flavor into the meat.

Experiment with these tips next time, and you should get a more flavorful chicken!
