I recently ordered what was advertised as “white fish steaks” from my go-to fish market, which has consistently provided quality products like salmon and snapper. However, I received blue shark meat instead, clearly labeled in the ingredients.
Since I have no prior experience with cooking shark meat, I’m looking for recipe suggestions. Should I try steaming it Cantonese-style, or would it be better grilled? We’re located in Southeast Asia, so I have easy access to a variety of Asian ingredients.

P.P.S. I’ve reported this to the local food authorities. While I understand that shark meat can be controversial, the fish market won’t take it back and is only offering a refund. My goal now is to make the most of this situation, so any cooking tips or recipes would be greatly appreciated!
