  1. Absolutely! Charbroiled oysters are a classic New Orleans delicacy, and they’re delicious! Here’s a simple recipe to help you recreate that NOLA flavor at home:

    Charbroiled Oysters – NOLA Style

    Ingredients:

    • 12 fresh oysters in the shell
    • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
    • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (or to taste)
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • Lemon wedges, for serving

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat Your Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

    2. Prepare the Butter Mixture: In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, oregano, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

    3. Shuck the Oysters: Carefully shuck the oysters, keeping the oyster in the deeper half of the shell. Discard the top half of the shell.

    4. Arrange the Oysters: Place the shucked oysters on a grill-proof tray or directly on the grill grates if you’re comfortable.

    5. Top with Butter Mixture: Spoon a generous amount of the garlic butter mixture over each oyster. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top of the oysters.

    6. Grill the Oysters: Place the oysters on the grill. Close the lid and grill for 5-7 minutes, or until the oysters are hot and the cheese is golden and bubbly.

    7. Serve: Remove the oysters from the grill with tongs. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

    Tips:

    • If you want a little extra kick, add some breadcrumbs on top along with the cheese before grilling.
    • Make sure to keep an eye on the oysters while grilling to avoid overcooking.

Enjoy your charbroiled oysters and take a taste trip back to NOLA!
