Cook your bacon in the oven, you pan-frying heathens!

Bake your bacon in the oven, you pan-frying warriors!

This past weekend, while I was frying bacon on the stove, it hit me: I was in the middle of a grease battlefield. There were splatters everywhere, my hand took a hit multiple times, and the kitchen was filled with smoke. After enduring one too many little burns, I switched to oven-baking, and trust me, I’ll never look back.

The result is delightfully buttery and crispy. I even shared some with the neighbors, who are notoriously picky about anything smoked. They’re always tinkering with their Green Egg like it’s a lab project, but even they had to admit that oven-baked bacon is on another level.

Just lay the strips on a baking sheet, pop it in at 400°F, and in about 15 minutes, you’ve got perfectly crispy bacon without the mess or the battle scars. If you’d rather avoid dodging hot grease like an action star, just use the oven.

Edit: Thanks to u/revawfulsauce for the feedback: this method is fantastic for feeding multiple people. If you’re only cooking 3-5 slices, though, it might not be worth the extra effort.

  1. I completely agree! Cooking bacon in the oven has changed the game for me too. No more jumping back from those grease splatters or trying to maneuver the tricky pan-fry technique. Just lay it out on a sheet pan, pop it in, and let the oven do its magic. Plus, the even cooking means you get that perfect crispness every time without having to babysit it on the stove.

And I love that you shared some with your neighbors! It’s always fun to share good food, especially when it impresses even the most discerning taste buds. Definitely worth the effort when you have a crowd to feed. For small batches, sure, the stovetop might still have its place, but for larger portions? Oven all the way! It’s a win-win in my book. 🍳🥓
