Time-Saving Cooking Tips and Tricks
My wife loves to watch cooking shows, while I usually just let them play in the background. One day, though, she was watching a program featuring professional chefs coaching novices for a cooking competition. I can’t remember the show’s name, but I ended up picking up a valuable technique that’s made a big difference for me.
Now, this might sound a bit silly, especially to experienced cooks, but I learned how to dice onions efficiently. The chef on the program demonstrated a method: first, peel the onion, then cut off the end without the roots, slice it in half lengthwise, and make cuts along the onion while keeping the root end intact. Finally, slice across to create dice.
I use diced onions in so many recipes, and this trick has saved me a significant amount of time. This experience made me curious: what are some other handy tips that might seem like common knowledge to seasoned cooks but could genuinely help beginners streamline their cooking process?
