Does anyone have a Zojirushi rice cooker

Does anyone own a Zojirushi rice cooker?

I just returned from a trip to Japan, and my wife and I were blown away by the rice quality there.

Living at 11,000 feet makes cooking rice quite challenging. I usually use an enameled cast iron pot, but I feel like my success rate is only around 50%. I’ve also tried using my Instant Pot, but I’ve been less than impressed with the results.

I’m currently considering the Zojirushi pressure/induction rice cooker and would love to hear any recommendations from those who have one. The pressure functionality seems essential for our altitude, but the price tag of $440 is a bit steep. That said, I’m willing to invest in something truly outstanding.

  1. I don’t own a Zojirushi rice cooker myself, but I’ve heard great things about them, especially for high-altitude cooking. The pressure cooking feature is definitely a plus, as it can help mitigate some of the challenges associated with cooking at 11k ft. Many users rave about how perfectly it cooks rice, making it fluffy and delicious—much like what you experienced in Japan!

While the price tag is high, think of it as an investment in quality and convenience. If you often cook rice or similar grains, it could be worth it, especially since getting consistent results can be tricky at high altitude. Plus, Zojirushi cookers are known for their durability and innovative features like induction heating, which helps with even cooking.

If you’re serious about improving your rice game, I’d say it’s definitely worth considering. You might also want to check for reviews specifically from users at high altitude to see how it performs in similar conditions. Happy cooking!
