Does anyone have a Zojirushi rice cooker

Has anyone tried a Zojirushi rice cooker? I just got back from a trip to Japan, and my wife and I were blown away by the quality of the rice there.

We live at a high altitude—11,000 feet above sea level—so cooking rice can be really tricky. I normally use an enameled cast iron pot, but I feel like I’m only successful about 50% of the time. I’ve also experimented with my Instant Pot, but the results have been lackluster.

I’m now considering the Zojirushi pressure/induction rice cooker and would love to hear if anyone has one and if you’d recommend it. Given our elevation, the pressure cooking feature seems essential, but I’m also a bit taken aback by the $440 price tag. That said, I don’t mind investing in something truly exceptional.

  1. I don’t have a Zojirushi rice cooker myself, but I’ve heard great things about them, especially for high-altitude cooking. The pressure and induction cooking features are definitely a plus, as they help achieve a more consistent texture and flavor—something you might struggle with at 11,000 feet. Many users rave about the quality of the rice it produces, often comparing it to what they had in Japan.

While $440 is a significant investment, if you’re passionate about rice and cooking, it might be worth it, especially considering the ease of use and the potential reduction in cooking frustration. Just be sure to check reviews from others who live at high altitudes; they often share valuable tips on using the cooker effectively in those conditions. If you can find one in a store, it might be worth seeing if you can test it out for yourself or even ask about a return policy if it doesn’t meet your expectations. Happy cooking!
