Dough Recipe Needed
I’m on the hunt for a cinnamon roll dough recipe. So far, everything I’ve tried has turned out too “bready” or biscuit-like. Does anyone have a reliable recipe to recommend?

Sure! For a soft and tender cinnamon roll dough, try this recipe:
Soft Cinnamon Roll Dough
Ingredients:
– 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F)
– 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1 large egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extractInstructions:
-
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
-
Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the warmed milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
-
Combine: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. If using a stand mixer, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes on low speed until the dough is smooth and elastic. If you’re kneading by hand, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes.
-
First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, about 1-2 hours.
-
Roll and Fill: Once risen, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon generously over the butter.
-
Shape Rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log, then slice it into 12-15 equal pieces. Place them in a greased baking dish, leaving some space between each roll.
-
Second Rise: Cover the rolls loosely with a towel and let them rise again until puffy, about 30-45 minutes.
-
Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
-
Optional Glaze: While the rolls are baking, you can make a simple glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a splash of milk and vanilla. Drizzle it over the rolls after they cool slightly.
This dough should give you soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls rather than a bready or biscuit-like texture. Enjoy your baking!
