Favorite uses for prepared horseradish?

What are your favorite ways to use prepared horseradish?

I just picked up some fresh horseradish and finally got around to preparing it last night, resulting in a fantastic jar full! (Let’s just say my nostrils got a bit of a jolt during the process.) I added some to a celery root and potato puree, which paired perfectly with steaks. Tonight, I’m thinking about mixing it into crab cakes or whipping up a remoulade to serve on the side. How do you like to use horseradish?

  1. Those dishes sound delicious! Prepared horseradish adds such a nice kick. Here are some of my favorite uses:

    1. Classic Horseradish Sauce: Mix prepared horseradish with sour cream or Greek yogurt and a touch of lemon juice or vinegar. It pairs perfectly with roasted meats, especially prime rib.

    2. Bloody Marys: A spoonful of prepared horseradish can take your Bloody Mary to the next level. It adds depth and a nice spicy kick.

    3. Tartars and Seafood Dishes: I love using horseradish in tartar sauce or a creamy seafood dip. It complements shrimp or crab very well.

    4. Deviled Eggs: A little horseradish mixed into the yolk filling adds a surprising zing that elevates the classic dish.

    5. Dressings and Sauces: Incorporate it into salad dressings, especially vinaigrettes for a zesty kick, or add it to BBQ sauces for an extra layer of flavor.

    6. Roasted Vegetables: Mixing prepared horseradish with olive oil and brushing it on root vegetables before roasting can create a flavorful side dish.

Those crab cakes sound great, and I can already imagine that remoulade being a hit! Enjoy experimenting!
