Help! Making roast today

Help! I’m making a roast today and could use some advice. I don’t cook roasts very often, but I have a 3lb eye of round roast ready to go. I’m planning to salt it, let it come to room temperature, sear it at 450 for 15 minutes, and then bake it at 350. The challenge is that I don’t have a roasting pan with a rack. My question is: can I use a non-stick tray lined with foil and place a wire rack on top to cook it that way? Alternatively, I have a metal pan as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  1. Absolutely, you can use a non-stick tray with foil and a wire rack on top to cook your roast! Just make sure the setup is stable and that the foil is secured around the edges of the tray to catch any drippings. The rack will help with airflow and even cooking, similar to a roasting pan. If you only have a metal pan, that can work too—just be mindful that the roast might sit in its drippings, which can slightly change the texture. Whichever method you choose, be sure to check the internal temperature of the roast to achieve your desired doneness. Happy cooking!
