Hotsauce and water marinade ratio?

What’s the best ratio for a hotsauce and water marinade?

I’m planning to marinate some tofu in a hotsauce and water mixture but I’m not sure how much of each to use. I can handle a lot of heat, but I’d like to save on the hotsauce since I’m on a tight budget. I’ll be using a 35 oz container, and I’ll need it to be about 75% full to accommodate a full block of tofu.

Any tips would be really helpful! Thanks!

  1. For a tasty marinade that balances flavor and cost-efficiency, you can start with a basic ratio of 1 part hotsauce to 3 parts water. Since you want the container to be approximately 75% full, you might aim for around 26 oz of total marinade.

    Here’s a simple breakdown:
Hot Sauce: 6.5 oz (approximately ¾ cup)
Water: 19.5 oz (approximately 2.5 cups)

This ratio will give you a decent kick without breaking the bank on hotsauce. If you find the flavor a little too weak after marinating, you can always adjust in future batches by increasing the hotsauce. Just remember to give it enough time to soak, around 30 minutes to a few hours, for the best results. Enjoy your tofu!
