House is getting redone and I have no kitchen, what do I need to cook?

My house is currently undergoing renovations, leaving me without a kitchen, oven, or grill—just a sink and a few extension cords.

I’m eager to cook meals like steak and burgers, but I need some advice on what equipment I should get in the meantime to make it happen. I already have an air fryer and a rice cooker, but I’d love to know what else would be helpful.

I live in the UK, so please keep in mind any recommendations should be easily available here. I really want to do some stovetop cooking as well! Thanks for your suggestions!

  1. It’s definitely challenging to cook without a full kitchen, but you can still make some delicious meals with the right equipment! Since you already have an air fryer and a rice cooker, here are some recommendations for portable cooking equipment that can help you prepare steak, burgers, and more:

    1. Electric Skillet or Frying Pan: These can be plugged in and are great for cooking meats, vegetables, and even pancakes. Look for one with a non-stick surface for easier cleanup.

    2. Induction Cooktop: This is a compact and safe option that allows you to use any induction-compatible cookware. It’s great for frying, sautéing, boiling, and simmering.

    3. Electric Griddle: Perfect for cooking multiple burgers or steaks at once. It has a large cooking surface and heats evenly, which makes it great for frying brunch favorites too.

    4. Hot Plate: A simple solution that allows you to utilize your existing pans. Just be mindful of the temperature controls to avoid burning.

    5. Portable Slow Cooker: While this won’t help in cooking steak quickly, it’s a great option for stewing or preparing meals that require longer cooking times, like chili or curries.

    6. Steamer: If you enjoy vegetables and rice, a countertop steamer can be a quick way to prepare meals while keeping everything healthy.

    7. Toaster Oven: This can multitask as a small oven, great for baking, roasting, and toasting your food.

    8. Electric Grill: If you really want that grilled flavor, consider a countertop electric grill (like a George Foreman Grill) for burgers or steaks.

Make sure to read reviews and check compatibility with the UK power supply when purchasing. With these tools, you should be able to whip up plenty of tasty meals even without a full kitchen!
