How serious is it if I forgot to let the salt dissolve in my brine? I’m not very experienced in cooking and I’m feeling pretty exhausted as I get ready for bed. I think I may have skipped the step of dissolving the salt and just sprinkled some on top. My plan was to let it sit in the fridge for a few hours before cooking later. Is that alright?

How bad is it if i forgot to let the salt dissolve in a brine?

Don’t worry too much! While letting the salt fully dissolve in a brine is ideal for even seasoning, sprinkling salt on top still provides some flavor. The brine will still work to some extent, but the seasoning might not be as uniform.
Just make sure to give it enough time in the fridge to allow the flavors to penetrate the food. If you notice the salt hasn’t fully dissolved by the time you cook, you can always adjust by adding a bit of liquid or dilute it in your cooking process. Enjoy your cooking adventure and get some rest!
