I’m completely out of my depth in the kitchen…
A few days ago, I decided to cook a chicken in my pressure cooker. My plan was to give it a little steam and then pop it in the air fryer to achieve that perfect crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy.
However, I haven’t cooked chicken in almost a year, so I lost track of time and left it in the pressure cooker for 1.5 hours. When I finally retrieved it with a sieve, it was a disaster! The bones and skin practically fell off, and the meat crumbled like cotton candy. I salvaged what I could, stored the meat in a container, and kept the stock in the fridge.
I used some of the stock to whip up a cream of mushroom soup. I then incorporated part of that soup into a delicious mushroom sauce to accompany the steak for dinner that night.
The following day, I took some of the chicken, added Middle Eastern spices, herbs, garlic sauce, and stuffed it into khobz bread for a tasty sandwich.
I tweaked the mushroom soup and enjoyed that the next day too. I also mixed some chicken with Mexican spices and salsa to create fajitas, guacamole, and then made a burrito for dinner.
Tomorrow, I’m planning to make a traditional dish with groats, the chicken, and the leftover stock.
I still have a lot of chicken left, along with plenty of chicken stock and cream of mushroom soup.
Since I’m not used to cooking every day or storing food, this feels never-ending! I’m amazed at how much I’ve managed to create from just a 750-gram chicken.
