I went to Valhalla, and it truly deserves a star (or two)

I recently dined at Valhalla, and it absolutely deserves a star (or two).

Winter 2025 has brought one of the finest dining experiences currently available. Stephen Gillanders and his team are bold in their use of spices, which truly enhances their dishes. Standout offerings included an incredible trio of surf dishes, braised beef breast, arroz caldo, torrijas, and a delightful pavlova. There wasn’t a single dish that missed the mark. If I had to find a fault, it would be that the restaurant is a bit dimly lit. However, the atmosphere and service were exceptional.

The amount of food we received for $198 was remarkable and well worth it. If you’re considering a visit, I highly recommend it. Once they receive a star, I anticipate that prices will go up. Don’t miss out!

  1. It sounds like you had an incredible dining experience at Valhalla! I love how you highlighted the creative use of spices in their dishes—it’s always exciting to see chefs push culinary boundaries. The dishes you mentioned, especially the braised beef breast and pavlova, sound absolutely delectable. I can understand your concern about the dim lighting, but it seems the overall atmosphere and service made up for it. Your recommendation to go before they potentially raise prices is a solid tip for anyone considering a visit. Thanks for sharing your thoughts—definitely adding Valhalla to my must-try list!
