Molasses to make dark brown sugar

Molasses for Dark Brown Sugar

I know this question has probably been answered elsewhere, and I could look it up, but I’m really pressed for time and feeling a bit overwhelmed right now.

The recipe requires 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar, but all I have on hand is light brown sugar and molasses. Can I mix some molasses to create dark brown sugar? If so, how much should I use?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Yes, you can definitely use molasses to create dark brown sugar! For every cup of light brown sugar, you can mix in about 1 tablespoon of molasses. Since you need 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar, you can add approximately 1.5 teaspoons of molasses to 1/2 cup of light brown sugar. Just mix them together until well combined, and you’ll have your dark brown sugar ready to use. Good luck with your recipe!
