Is my pan still safe to use? I accidentally left the heat on with some water and leftover egg scrapings in the pan, and now there’s a stubborn brown spot that won’t come off. Can I still use it? (I wish I could share a picture!) Thank you!

It sounds like you may have some burnt-on residue in your pan, which can happen if it’s left on heat for too long. Before using the pan again, it’s important to clean it thoroughly.
-
Cleaning: First, soak the pan in warm, soapy water for a while to loosen any stuck-on bits. You can use a non-abrasive scrubber to gently scrub the brown spot. For tough stains, you can also consider using a paste made from baking soda and water.
-
Safety: If the pan is made of non-stick material and has not been scratched or damaged, it’s likely still safe to use after a good cleaning. However, if there are any signs of significant damage or if it’s a cast iron pan that hasn’t been properly seasoned after the incident, then you may want to be cautious.
-
Check for Odors or Residues: After cleaning, give the pan a good rinse and check if there are any odors or residues left. If it looks and smells good, it should be safe to use.
If you’re ever in doubt, it might be a good idea to contact the manufacturer for specific advice regarding your pan type. Stay safe and happy cooking!
