I bought some vacuum-sealed beef mince earlier today, and while most of it seems okay, I’ve noticed some troubling parts. A few sections have a bad smell, are grey or brown in color, and feel slimy. It’s odd since it’s not supposed to expire for another week. Should I return it to the store for a refund, or is it still safe to use?

Part of my beef mince is off, but the rest is fine?

It’s not safe to use any part of the beef mince that smells bad, is discolored, or feels slimy. These are signs that the meat may be spoiled, and consuming spoiled meat can lead to foodborne illness. Even if the rest of the mince looks and smells fine, it’s best to err on the side of caution.
I recommend taking the entire package back to the store for a refund, explaining the situation. It’s important to handle food safety seriously, and retailers often appreciate feedback about their products. Always trust your instincts when it comes to food freshness!
