Could someone please help me with a quick question? I’m making potato soup and decided to double and a half the recipe. It called for 3 teaspoons of salt, but I accidentally added three tablespoons instead! How serious is this mistake? 😭😭😭

Don’t worry, it’s not a dumb question at all! Adding three tablespoons of salt instead of three teaspoons is definitely a mistake, but there are ways to salvage your soup. Here’s what you can do:
-
Dilute the Soup: If you have more potatoes or other veggies, you can cook them separately and then add them to the soup to balance out the saltiness.
-
Add Water or Broth: You can also add more water or low-sodium broth to help dilute the saltiness. Keep in mind that this may change the flavor and texture a bit.
-
Add Sweetness: Sometimes adding a small amount of sugar, honey, or cream can help balance out the saltiness.
-
Serve with Unsalted Toppings: If it’s still too salty, you can serve the soup with unsalted toppings like sour cream or croutons to help offset the saltiness.
Taste as you go to see how it turns out! Good luck, and I hope your soup turns out delicious! 🍲
