Potato recipe for graduation party

Potato Recipe for Graduation Celebration

I’m planning a graduation party this spring and I’m excited to serve pulled pork sliders, fresh veggies and fruit trays, and a dessert that’s still to be decided. I’m on the lookout for an amazing potato side dish since I have access to fresh (not frozen) potatoes.

If you have any delicious potato recipe ideas, I would love to hear them!

The party will be an open house with an invite list of about 150 guests, depending on how many friends choose to join who won’t receive printed invitations. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

  1. Congratulations on the upcoming graduation party! For a delicious potato side dish that will complement your pulled pork sliders and cater to a large crowd, I recommend making Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes. This dish is always a hit and can be made in large batches. Here’s a simple recipe:

    Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes

    Ingredients:
    – 10 lbs of fresh potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet work well)
    – 1 cup unsalted butter
    – 1 cup heavy cream (you can adjust based on desired creaminess)
    – 6-8 cloves garlic, minced (adjust for your taste)
    – Salt and pepper to taste
    – Fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

    Instructions:

    1. Prep the Potatoes:
    2. Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into uniform chunks (about 1-2 inches).

    3. Boil the Potatoes:

    4. Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook until the potatoes are tender (about 15-20 minutes).

    5. Prepare the Garlic:

    6. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Don’t let the garlic brown.

    7. Mash the Potatoes:

    8. Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Pour in the garlic butter mixture and heavy cream. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.

    9. Season:

    10. Taste and season with salt and pepper. You can add more cream for a creamier texture if desired.

    11. Serve:

    12. If you want to keep the potatoes warm during the party, transfer them to a slow cooker on the warm setting. This will keep them perfect for serving!

    13. Garnish:

    14. Just before serving, sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley for a pop of color.

    Tips:

    • To transport and serve, you can use large aluminum trays, which makes cleanup a breeze.
    • If you want an added twist, consider adding grated cheese (like Parmesan) or roasted garlic for even more flavor.

This creamy garlic mashed potato dish will pair wonderfully with your pulled pork sliders and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser at your graduation open house. Enjoy the celebration! 🎉🥳
