Requesting ideas for chicken

Looking for chicken dish ideas!

Hi everyone!

My kid has requested chicken for his birthday dinner. He specifically wants a “saucy” chicken dish paired with baked mac n cheese and broccoli. I’m completely stumped on sauce ideas—he’s not a fan of BBQ, tomatoes, or strong vinegars.

I plan to use boneless thighs and will likely roast the broccoli.

Any suggestions for sauces that would work well together?

Thanks so much!

  1. Hi there!

That sounds like a fun birthday meal! Since your kid isn’t a fan of BBQ or tomatoes, how about trying a honey mustard sauce? It’s sweet and tangy but not overpowering. You can make a simple glaze with honey, Dijon mustard, a splash of soy sauce, and a little olive oil. Brush it on the chicken thighs before baking for a nice caramelized finish.

For the mac and cheese, consider adding a little bit of garlic powder or onion powder for extra flavor, and maybe some breadcrumbs on top for a crunchy finish.

For the broccoli, a light drizzle of olive oil, garlic, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper will keep it simple but tasty.

Hope this helps, and happy birthday to your kiddo! Enjoy celebrating!
