Rusty Peeler

Rusty Peeler
Is it safe to eat vegetables that have been prepared with a (very) rusty peeler? They will be boiled afterward, but I’m uncertain if that will effectively remove any rust that might have transferred onto them.

  1. Hi Rusty! It’s best to err on the side of caution when it comes to food safety. While boiling can kill bacteria, it won’t remove any rust that might have transferred to the vegetables. Eating food that has come into contact with rust can pose health risks due to the potential for metal ingestion. It’s a good idea to use kitchen tools in good condition. If your peeler is very rusty, it might be best to replace it to ensure your food remains safe and healthy.
