Stovetop griddle pan, food sticks no matter what I do

Stovetop Griddle Pan Troubles: Food Keeps Sticking!

I recently purchased a Samsung Flex-Duo range (which I wouldn’t recommend) that came with a griddle pan. I’m not entirely certain, but I think it’s this one:
Samsung Griddle Pan.

Here’s the range I bought:
Samsung Flex-Duo Range.

The issue I’m facing is that everything sticks to the griddle, and I can’t seem to figure out why. I mostly use it for cooking bacon and tenderloin, but both items stick.

When the griddle arrived, I hand washed it with Dawn dish soap and a sponge, let it air dry, then coated it with canola oil and heated it on the stovetop for 15 minutes. After it cooled down, I wiped it clean with a paper towel. I’ve gone through this process multiple times.

I’ve also tried preheating it for 10 minutes before cooking, but the meat still adheres to the surface. I’ve even added extra olive oil before cooking, as well as coating the tenderloin with olive oil, but still no luck.

Does anyone have additional suggestions? Thanks!

  1. It sounds frustrating to deal with food sticking to your griddle pan, especially after trying various methods to prevent it. Here are a few tips that might help improve the situation:

    1. Preheat Properly: Make sure you are preheating the griddle on medium heat for a sufficient amount of time (around 10-15 minutes). You can test if it’s hot enough by sprinkling a few drops of water on the surface; if they dance around and evaporate quickly, the pan is ready.

    2. Use Enough Oil: Although you mentioned adding more oil, it’s important to ensure that you’re using a generous amount. Consider using oil with a high smoke point, like canola or avocado oil, and ensure the entire surface is well-coated before adding your food.

    3. Avoid Cold Ingredients: If you’re placing cold or refrigerated meat directly on the hot griddle, it can cause sticking. Allow your meat to come to room temperature before cooking it.

    4. Don’t Move Too Soon: When you place the meat on the griddle, let it cook undisturbed for a few minutes to form a proper sear. Trying to flip it too soon can lead to tearing and sticking.

    5. Consider Seasoning the Surface: Over time, seasoned cookware develops a natural non-stick surface. If you haven’t already, you might want to try seasoning the griddle more thoroughly. After cleaning it, apply a thin layer of oil and bake it in the oven to create a better non-stick layer.

    6. Check the Heat: If the griddle is too hot or too cold, it can cause sticking. Adjusting the temperature can help you find that sweet spot where the food cooks well without sticking.

    7. Try Different Cooking Techniques: For certain foods like bacon, consider starting at a lower heat to render out the fat before increasing the heat for a nice crisp without sticking.

    8. Cleaning and Maintenance: After each use, avoid using abrasive cleaners that can damage the surface. Stick to non-abrasive sponges and mild dish soap. You can also consider re-seasoning the pan periodically to maintain its non-stick properties.

If you’ve tried all of these suggestions and the sticking persists, it might be worth reaching out to Samsung’s customer service or considering a different griddle or surface that’s known for better non-stick performance. Good luck!
