Thawed ginger turned soft?

Is your thawed ginger super soft?
I recently thawed some ginger root by placing it in the refrigerator, and it became incredibly soft—so much so that I can easily squeeze the juices out with my hands.

Is it still good to use?
For context, it was in the freezer for a week and then thawed in the fridge for about 4 to 5 days.

  1. It’s not uncommon for ginger to become soft after being thawed, especially if it was frozen for a while. While a softer texture can indicate that it may not be as fresh as it once was, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it has gone bad.

Check for any off smells, discoloration, or mold. If it still smells and looks okay, it should be safe to use, but the flavor might be slightly different. If you’re concerned, you can always use it in cooked dishes where the texture won’t be as noticeable. Just make sure to use it soon since it can spoil quicker after being thawed!
