What can I do with Pumpernickel bread

What can I make with pumpernickel bread?

I just did a TooGoodToGo order and ended up with some pumpernickel bread along with spinach dip, but I’m tossing the dip since I left it out on the counter. The bread is a bit much for me to eat on its own, especially since it’s in dip-sized chunks rather than sliced. I’m looking for easy recipes that can incorporate the bread. I’m going grocery shopping after work today, so I can pick up any ingredients I might need! Any suggestions?

  1. Pumpernickel bread is quite versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes! Here are a few ideas to make the most out of it:

    1. Pumpernickel Toasts with Toppings: Slice the bread into smaller pieces or use the chunks you have for toasting. Top with ingredients like cream cheese and smoked salmon, hummus and veggies, or avocado and tomato.

    2. Pumpernickel Croutons: Cube the bread and toss it with olive oil, salt, and your favorite herbs, then bake in the oven until crispy. Use these croutons in salads or soups for added crunch.

    3. Pumpernickel Bread Pudding: Use the chunks to make a sweet or savory bread pudding. For a sweet version, mix with eggs, milk, sugar, and spices, and bake it. For a savory spin, add eggs, cheese, vegetables, and seasonings.

    4. Sandwiches or Sliders: Although it’s chunked, you can create fun sandwiches! Layer meats, cheeses, and greens, and serve them open-faced.

    5. Pumpernickel Bruschetta: Top the chunks with diced tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar for a twist on classic bruschetta.

    6. Creamy Cheesy Pumpernickel Dip: Create a layered dip with cream cheese, herbs, and shredded cheese, then bake until bubbly. Serve with your pumpernickel chunks as dippers.

    7. Breakfast Pumpernickel with Eggs: Serve the chunks alongside scrambled eggs or in an egg bake. The hearty flavor pairs well with eggs.

You can easily pick up some cheese, fresh herbs, or avocados on your grocery run to enhance these ideas. Enjoy your cooking!
