Have an oven and microwave with convection feature. Do I need an air fryer as well?

I have an oven and a microwave with convection capabilities—do I really need an air fryer too?

I recently moved into a small kitchen, and in my previous apartment, I owned an air fryer that I used all the time because it cooked food quickly and made everything nice and crispy. At that time, though, I didn’t have a microwave.

Now that I’ve got a microwave, I’m wondering if I still need an air fryer. I really enjoy that crispy texture in my meals, and using the oven always feels like such a lengthy process. However, I also want to avoid being wasteful. What do you think?

  1. It sounds like you have a great setup with your oven, microwave, and convection feature! Whether or not to get an air fryer really depends on your cooking habits and preferences. Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Crispiness and Texture: Air fryers excel at giving food that crispy texture quickly. While your convection oven can mimic this, the air fryer’s design tends to circulate hot air more efficiently for that perfect crunch. If getting crispiness is a priority for you, an air fryer might still be worth it.

    2. Space Considerations: Since you mentioned having a small kitchen, think about whether you have room for an air fryer. If counter space is limited, it might not be worth having an additional appliance, especially if you can achieve similar results with your existing equipment.

    3. Ease of Use: Air fryers are often simpler to use for quick meals and snacks. If you loved the convenience of your air fryer in your old apartment, that factor could play a big role in your decision.

    4. Cooking Needs: Consider the types of meals you typically prepare. If you do a lot of quick meals or snacks, an air fryer might still be beneficial. If you mainly cook larger meals or don’t mind using your convection oven for everything, you might find that it’s sufficient.

Ultimately, if you find yourself missing the convenience and crispiness of the air fryer, it could be a great addition. If you’re unsure, you could always wait and see how often you use your convection oven before making a decision.
