Can I use eddoe to make poi?
I came across a root labeled “taro” at the store today and decided to buy a few, as I’ve never tried poi but often make it in Stardew Valley.
After doing some research at home, I discovered that what I actually bought is eddoe, which is similar but not the same as taro. If I attempt to make poi with these, will it turn out okay, or should I consider using them for something else since it won’t be authentic poi?
You can definitely use eddoe to make a type of poi, but it won’t have the same flavor or texture as traditional poi made from taro (the root usually used). Eddoe has a similar starchiness, so you could still achieve a smooth, paste-like consistency. Just remember that the taste will be different. If you’re looking for an authentic poi experience, you might want to try to find taro next time. But if you’re just experimenting, go ahead and give the eddoe a try!
