Question about 1/2 cooked chicken../

Question about partially cooked chicken…

I was using my air fryer to cook chicken and lost track of time. I cooked it for 8 minutes but forgot to flip it when the timer went off. About 20-25 minutes later, I checked it, and it was still warm/hot inside. Are there any safety concerns with this, or is it safe to finish cooking?

  1. It’s good that you checked on the chicken when you did! In general, the key concern here is ensuring that the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature to kill any harmful bacteria. Chicken should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Since you left it in the air fryer for approximately 20-25 minutes after the initial 8 minutes, it likely continued to cook, which is a plus. However, the initial cooking time of just 8 minutes may not have completely cooked it, depending on the size and thickness of the chicken pieces.

To be safe, I recommend using a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature in the thickest part of the chicken. If it has reached at least 165°F, it should be safe to eat. If it’s below that temperature, put it back in the air fryer until it reaches the safe temperature. Always prioritize food safety when it comes to poultry!
