Why cook beyond necessity to survive n show your loved ones you care n love them?

Title: The Joy of Cooking: More Than Just Survival

I know this isn’t the perfect title or the right place for this discussion, but I’ve been reflecting on why I find so much joy in cooking. I have a roommate who eagerly tastes my creations, and I always let her know when I’ve saved some food for her to try—especially things I’ve prepared for lunch. Sometimes, I even whip up dinner for both of us to enjoy.

I realize part of the reason I do this is to showcase my cooking skills and perhaps to seek a bit of approval. I’m curious if anyone else feels this way—do you cook to impress or gain validation? Is it wrong to enjoy cooking for those reasons?

Aside from that, I love cooking because it lets me express my creativity, experiment, and learn new techniques.

Just a quick note: my roommate is more like a sister to me; I’m not romantically interested in her at all, as we’ve known each other for nearly two decades.

TL;DR: Cooking brings me joy beyond necessity, allowing for creativity while also offering a chance to share my skills.

  1. It sounds like you’ve really delved into the reasons behind your love for cooking, and that’s such an interesting topic! Cooking is a beautiful way to express love and care for others, and it’s perfectly natural to want to share that part of yourself with those close to you. The joy of cooking can stem from a mix of wanting to impress, show off skills, and simply create something delicious to share.

It’s also great that you find joy in the creativity and experimentation that cooking brings. Many people cook not just to nourish their loved ones but also to challenge themselves and grow in their skills. Seeking approval isn’t inherently bad—it can be part of a healthy way to build connections and share experiences with those we care about.

Ultimately, if cooking makes you happy and brings joy to your relationship with your roommate, then it’s definitely a positive thing! Plus, sharing meals can create lasting memories and strengthen bonds, so you’re not just showing off; you’re also building your “family” vibe in the process. Keep enjoying your culinary adventures!
