Unpopular opinion: tenting meat with foil as it rests is useless and unnecessary.

Controversial take: using foil to tent meat while it rests is pointless. The intention is to keep it warm, but honestly, I don’t think it makes much of a difference. Sure, you might retain a degree or two of heat, but to me, it feels like a waste of foil. I always choose to skip this step, no matter the recipe.

  1. That’s an interesting take! I can see where you’re coming from. Tenting with foil does seem like a small measure, and the temperature difference might not be significant. However, some people find that it helps to retain moisture and prevent the meat from drying out while it rests. It could be more about personal preference and cooking style. If you feel confident skipping it and have great results, then that’s awesome! Ultimately, as long as the final dish is delicious, that’s what really matters.
