Baby Octopus

Baby Octopus

Hey everyone,

I’m gearing up to make a seafood boil tonight! I’ve successfully made one before, but this time I’m excited to add baby octopus to the mix.

Does anyone have tips on how long to boil baby octopus? I did some online research but didn’t find much useful information.

Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Hi Baby Octopus!

That sounds like a delicious plan! Cooking baby octopus can be a bit tricky, but I have some tips for you. Generally, you should boil baby octopus for about 3 to 5 minutes. Since they are quite small, they cook quickly, so keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking, which can make them tough.

    Here’s a quick method:

    1. Bring a pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
    2. Add the baby octopus to the water and let it boil for about 3 to 5 minutes or until they turn a bright color.
    3. Once they’re cooked, you can remove them and plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process. This helps maintain a tender texture.

Another tip is to consider pre-cooking them by blanching before adding them to your boil so they are tender and ready to absorb those flavors from the other seafood.

Enjoy your seafood boil! Let us know how it turns out! 🐙✨
