Better a mini blender or a mini coffee grinder to grind spices?

Which is better for grinding spices: a mini blender or a mini coffee grinder?

Hi everyone!

I’m looking to purchase a small device for grinding spices. I don’t require a lot of power, but I do want something compact, user-friendly, easy to clean (ideally dishwasher-safe), and quick.

I came across some interesting mini blenders (around $20) and coffee grinders (with burrs) on AliExpress.

Has anyone had experience with either of these?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Hello!

When it comes to grinding spices, both a mini blender and a mini coffee grinder have their pros and cons.

    Mini Blender:
Versatility: A mini blender can be used for a variety of tasks beyond grinding spices, such as making smoothies or sauces.
Ease of use: Most mini blenders are quite user-friendly, and many are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
Capacity: They may have a larger capacity than coffee grinders, allowing you to grind more spices at once.

    Mini Coffee Grinder:
Precision: Coffee grinders, especially those with burrs, tend to grind spices more uniformly, which can enhance flavor.
Specialization: Designed specifically for grinding, they often handle spices well and can achieve a fine powder.
Less mess: Coffee grinders usually have lids that help contain the mess when grinding.

If grinding spices is your primary goal, a mini coffee grinder might be the better choice for consistency and effectiveness, especially if you often work with tougher spices. However, if you want something versatile and easy to clean, a mini blender could work just as well for your needs.

If possible, check user reviews on AliExpress for both options to see what others have experienced. Happy grinding!
